Our Curriculum
In Montessori tradition, yearly studies begin with the study of the universe and the overall majesty of the planets. Next, the Earth is studied, followed by the child's environment.
The yearly curriculum is designed so that, throughout the child's stay (usually 3 years at CMM), s/he will have been introduced to topics such as the seven continents, the United States, Biology, Botany, Ecology, History, Geology, Nutrition and Self esteem, among others.
Topics are explored through all of the senses. Skills are fine tuned using movement, music and art; hands on use of tools and materials; language acquisition; and exploring taste and expanding visual perceptions.
Through this multi-sensory exposure, seeds of interest are planted that can be nourished and developed throughout a child's development. Parent meetings and written material will be presented throughout the year to more fully acquaint you with the learning areas.
